We’re doing a new (to us) thing. It feels like we have a lot of nerve thinking we have a Chester boar prospect up for consideration. Maybe we do. But, we’ll never know unless we try. We’ve spent the last few years learning from all of our mistakes, gleaning as much information on each new thing we didn’t previously know about, and having just enough nerve to keep trying new things. Even all the big time breeders started at the very beginning with a dream & a hog they had a good feeling about, right?
This Chester Boar, Love Shack was born here on the farm in July of 2024. He’s a Crete x Billy Bob. His momma is Sister, one that was the 2024 Hamilton County Junior Livestock Show Reserve Champion WOPB Chester Gilt we raised, out of the 2023 ECJLS Reserve Champion WOPB we kept.
This guy has never left the barn to show, but the girls got him whip broke early on. We said he was the biggest boned Chester to ever come through our barn, but that’s a lie. He’s second to our 2024 (4) Litter Boar we’re holding on to. All this to say, he is one of the biggest boned Chester’s we’ve seen. Pictures just don’t do his legs & feet justice. He’s elevated through the front half, short backed, square coming & going, pretty clean fronted, and shaggy. We think maybe he’s something special to the right someone, but we realize we might be partial.

We’ll be collecting on him this weekend, but he will be officially making his public debut at the 2025 Southwest Type Conference in Belton, Texas next week. Hopefully he has a good lap in the ring & finds himself in the sale that Saturday. Below is a video/preview of him if you’re still interested. If you have questions about him, or anything else in the barn, give Chris a call 254-434-3631.
