The Easiest Dump Cake Recipe. Ever.

I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve found myself uninspired in the kitchen as of late. It’s too hot too cook. It’s nearly too hot to eat. We’ve been living off of lunch meat, cheese & fruit here lately – by choice. It’s easy & it always gets the job done.

I recently stocked up on frozen fruit, especially cherries & pineapple, thinking smoothies sounded like a refreshing sweet way to beat the heat. Sometimes frozen fruit is a better investment for us than fresh fruit, because even with the best of intentions, my bananas always seem to brown before we eat them, the pineapple will just about ferment before I get it cut up, and I can’t even make myself pay $7/lb for fresh cherries.

But there is a longing in my bones for some good home cooking. Without a doubt, I know it’s wish for a crisp, cool morning, and dare I say, a miraculous, week-long, slow, steady rain…the kind that makes you want to curl up with something warm & comforting.

This dump cake is all of those things. Good home cooking. Like the kinds that come in all sorts of corning ware sets that you’d find at your family reunion that alllll your great aunts/grandmas brought. The kind that are tested & true. This dump cake checks all the boxes.

I’ll be honest in that part of this recipe isn’t mine. But recipes to me are more like guidelines in that they aren’t 100% written in stone. I believe you can deviate (within reason) on most recipes to make it yours.

So this is just that. Where I deviated & found the sweet spot. A recipe that is tried & true, but can definitely be altered to suit your own tastes. I almost didn’t get a picture because that’s how quickly we ate it. So my picture quality is zilch, but I guarantee the flavor makes up for it!

I think there is a million ways this could be changed. A pinch of cinnamon with apples would make a really nice “apple pie”. Blackberries & peaches would compliment each other nicely, too!

Also, a side note. If we’re going to the same gathering, you can bet I’ll be bringing this, so it’s official, I’m calling dibs. For the rest of my life. This is the dessert I’ll be bringing.
