Welcome to our corner of the internet, y’all. We hope that here you’ll find respite from the rush. Food for thought, as well as the soul. You’ll find ramblings straight from the barnyard, recipes that came to be from random ingredients in the kitchen, and freedom in creating instead of consuming.
So, without further ado, here’s a dish we love during the cool-down. The tease of Fall weather, after weeks of triple digit temps. Not to be wishing away Summer or hating on the PSL’s, but this Okra Gumbo is where it’s at this season. The beauty in this recipe is that it’s as down-home, cookin’ from scratch as you want it to be. We enjoy the balance of store bought, canned, diced tomatoes stirred right in with the homemade broth. Sometimes it’s frozen okra, and sometimes it’s picked straight from the garden. We always manage to add a few cuts of pork from our pigs. No matter how you build it, it’ll fill you up, warm your bones, and your husband will probably give you two thumbs up.
Save it, print it, share it with those you love.

Bon Appetit, friends! We hope that you enjoy it as much as we do.
